Tatsis Malagouzia Orange 2015
Orange | PGI Macedonia | Northern Greece | 12.50% ABV | 750ml
Natural | Organic| Biodynamic | Vegan
A signature, pure wine from Domaine Tatsis in Macedonia Greece.
This high quality, hand-selected parcels of Malagouzia have been gently squeezed and macerated with the skins for 30 days which gives it a dark amber colour. It is a charming and special wine; It gives generous aromas of floral honey, ripe figs, clove white rose and botanicals, that elegantly lead to a wide palate of great tension and good acidity balanced by silky tannins, wrapped in a mildly dense texture. It achieves all of that at comfortable 12% ABV, which ticks all the boxes for a fresh and powerful orange wine that is different yet approachable at the same time. Serve at 10-12c. Would pair very well with North African or Thai cuisine.
Malagousia is an aromatic white variety grown primarily in Central Greece and Greek Macedonia. The variety was rescued from near extinction in 1983 by the winemaker Evangelos Gerovassiliou, after he planted out his vineyard at Epanomi, on the Halkidiki peninsula, with the variety.
Malagousia is best known for its citrus and peach characteristics, often showing various melon flavours on the palate. It is often used as a blending agent, most notably with Assyrtiko, to which it adds middle body weight.
