Nerantzi Asprouda Serres White 2016
White | PGI Serres | Northern Greece | 13% ABV | 750ml
It has a bright golden colour and good clarity. The nose is dominated by ripe fruit like kumquat and lychee combined with wonderful aromas of roasted hazelnut, honey and butter. It is round on the palate with gentle acidity, balanced with a long aftertaste.
Asprouda of Serres
Asprouda of Serres is a unique variety, registered in Greece’s official grape map by the Nerantzi winery, located in Serres, Macedonia and not related with any other Asprouda grape, something that its generic name (Asprouda) – meaning whitish – may imply. Though this name has been given to several distinct white varieties all over Greece, of often very different appearance and flavour characteristics, this is one of only three officially recognised Asprouda grapes, the other two being the Patra and Santorini ones.
Large, thick-skinned berries on thick stems, late budding and late ripening.
